Hyderabad: Stating that injustice is being done to Telangana State by Andhra Pradesh government in sharing energy and water, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that the State government would fight to get its due share.

Replying to a question raised by Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, Harish Rao admitted that the ownership dispute over the Sileru Hydro Electric Project situated in Khammam district arose between the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He said a high-level committee headed by Chairperson of Central Electricity Authority is looking into the matter.

He said that the injustice being done by AP govt was being raised at various forums and that the Telangana Government was pursuing the matter with the Central Government. It would approach court, wherever necessary, he added.

Harish Rao said that the Telangana government has been honouring the AP Reorganisation Act by providing Secretariat, Assembly and other infrastructure to AP government in the joint capital. Earlier, Ponguleti slammed the State government for its failure to prevent merger of seven mandals of Khammam into AP. Similarly, he said that the AP government has been delaying commissioning of Krishnapatnam and Hindujas power plants. He proposed that the House should pass a unanimous resolution seeking justice for Telangana State.

TDP MLC A Narsa Reddy wondered why the contentious issues were not discussed during the meeting of Chief Ministers of both the States at Raj Bhavan. MLC B Venkateshwara Rao also spoke. Expressing his views, Leader of the Opposition D Srinivas appealed to all members to fight unitedly to get the rightful share of Telangana.
