Chemical godown gutted
Property worth lakhs of rupees was gutted when a major fire broke out at a chemical godown in Fatehnagar on Wednesday. However, no casualties have been reported. According to MA Shareef, Sanathnagar fire officer, they received a call around 10.10 am about a fire mishap at Jyothi Chemicals located at GP Complex, Sivalayam Road in Fatehnagar.

According to MA Shareef, Sanathnagar fire officer, they received a call around 10.10 am about a fire mishap at Jyothi Chemicals located at GP Complex, Sivalayam Road in Fatehnagar.
Initially, two fire tenders from Sanathnagar were rushed to the spot and battled for three hours to douse the flames. But as the fire began to spread rapidly due to the chemical solvents and other combustible material, two more fire tenders from Jeedimetla and Kukatpally joined the operation and fought for another two hours.

“There were two godowns housing more than 50 barrels of chemical solvents. One godown was completely gutted. We managed to salvage the second godown with extensive use of foam,” said Shareef, adding that the cause of fire could not be established. Police said the owners, Thakur and Srinivas, were absconding following the accident. A case has been registered against the owners.
