Hyderabad: Efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to restore over 46,000 tanks on a mission mode are getting fructified with some donors coming forward on Thursday, the first day of launching of the flagship project ‘Mission Kakatiya’ at Nizamabad.

On Thursday, the government got Rs 1.5 crore donation from Mohan Rao of Karimnagar district. While donating the funds to the pious project of Mission Kakatiya, Mohan Rao adopted four tanks in the district, according to information. Similarly, Indrasena Reddy, a resident of Nalgonda, came up with a donation of Rs 10 lakh for Mission Kakatiya. Following suit another person Ram Reddy from the same district offered Rs 6.25 lakh to the government for taking up the project to restore the tanks in his home district.

Interestingly, taking a call from the government and to help it, Irrigation Department staff donated their one-day salary towards this project, according to information. If the call given by the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao is taken seriously, more donors are likely to pour more funds into the project in the days to come. Meanwhile, it is learnt that some NRIs have evinced keen interest in extending help to this flagship project to make headway.
