Khammam: The funds allocated to Khammam district are not adequate, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) district committee secretary Pothineni Sudarshan Rao said here on Thursday, referring to the State government’s Budget-2015-16. “Khammam continues to get a raw deal with no adequate funds allocated in the Budget,” Rao said. He said that meagre funds allocated to Rajiv Sagar (Rs 25 crore), Indira Sagar (Rs 10 crore) and Dummugudem Tail Pond (Rs 1 crore) projects reflect the discriminative stand of the successive governments towards Khammam district. “Be it in united Andhra Pradesh or now in the Telangana State, the plight of farmers in the region has not changed,” he said. Rao also criticised the government for not even referring about the TRS poll promise of ‘KG to PG’ free education in the Budget. He claimed credit to the pay hike of Anganwadi workers, to whom the government announced Rs 7,000 per annum. He demanded that the government rethink over its priorities and fund allocations.
