Is Telangana government promoting liquor consumption among common man for sake of its revenues?
The manner in which Toddy was opened up for sake of rural poor, the Telangana Government also plans to release sale of Arrack for benefit of urban poor, it is alleged.
BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy has alleged that the TRS government was trying to earn revenue to the tune of Rs. 12,200 crore through sale of liquor unmindful of the serious repercussions of promoting liquor consumption.
Reddy was speaking to media persons before hitting the campaign trail in support of E. Rammohan Rao, party candidate for Legislative Council election from Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Graduates’ constituency here on Thursday.
Reddy alleged that the TRS was hell bent on filling its coffers by promoting liquor sales and imposing VAT on common man. The move amounted to promoting the social evil of alcohol consumption and said the TRS government has failed to check the menace of belt shops.
