While assuring the members that the government would not regularize those lands under litigation, especially the Endowments and Wakf lands, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government would actively examine the concerns expressed by the members about high prices being charged for lands which were in possession of the poor for the past over 20 to 30 years. No.59 for expanding their real estate business while the poor people forced to pay through their noses for a little extra land over and above the exemption limit.

He also said many realtors were taking shelter under GO 59 and even getting regularized open plots though the scheme which was intended for residential lands only. Other members like Ajay Kumar (Cong) and Miraj Hussain (MIM) also complained about the authorities charging the present-day rates from the poor though they occupied the lands and living there for the past 20 to 30 years. They insisted that a meeting of all the City MLAs should be convened to discuss the matter.

The Deputy Chief Minister, while assuring that an all-party meeting would be convened shortly, also revealed that as many as 29,281 applications were received for regularization under the provisions of GO No. 59.
