Hyderabad: After removing Andhra Pradesh content from the school textbooks, the Telangana government is now focused to revise the undergraduate courses offered by the State universities. From the next academic, there would not be AP-related content in Telugu and History subjects at the undergraduate level courses.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education has already constituted subject-wise committee to revise syllabus of undergraduate courses and bring out common core syllabus for all State universities. While revision of history syllabus has been completed, committee on Telugu subject met at TSCHE on Friday to revamp the language.

The meeting, chaired by the former Vice-Chancellor of Telugu University Prof. N Gopi besides Telugu department heads of all universities and Board of Studies as the members, has decided to root out content related to the AP from Telugu language. AP culture, history writing, poets, tourism so on and so forth would be replaced with the Telangana culture, history.

“Content related to Andhra Pradesh would be removed completely from the textbooks and Telangana content will be added. The committee members will meet twice or thrice before finalizing the content,” Prof. S Mallesh, Vice-Chairman-II, TSCHE said. Meanwhile, the committees on history and commerce have completed their work.

“Public administration, anthropology, sociology and social work would be submitted to the council in a week or two,” Mallesh said.The TSCHE has also decided to revise the life sciences. “We will update the sciences as per the advancement. The work will begin in the first or second week of April,” Mallesh informed.
