Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao claimed that real estate boom in Telangana has returned after short spell of slump. Businessmen who had left Hyderabad to Vijayawada are returning back to invest in the city.

Speaking in the Legislative Council on Budget, he referred to the news reports that there was no more real estate boom in the Vijayawada and everyone wants to invest again in Hyderabad.

He refuted the recent news reports that the government had sold out land for recuperate from economy.

“We did not sell government lands, because there was no boom. Why should we sell them when there was no boom ? We remained patient and all the negative campaign proved wrong,” he said.

Govt pushing hard for AIIMS

Telangana Government was taking all necessary steps for the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bibi Nagar of Nalgonda district and to make it functional at the earliest.

Minister for Medical and Health Laxma Reddy said while replying to a question in the State Assembly. He pointed out that the Central Government had conceded for setting up AIIMS after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had taken up the issue with the Prime Minister and the Union Health Minister, he added.

The Minister for Health pointed out that already 150 acres was allotted for the establishment of NIMS in the area and the TRS Government has agreed to make available 60 more acres for setting up AIIMS and the Centre gave its consent readily.

The proposed 960 bed AIIMS would be set up in three categories. 500 beds for regular medical care, 300 beds for super specialty, 100 beds for ICU etc.

The proposed AIIMS to be established at a cost of Rs 823 crore which would be borne by the Central government would also have a 100-beded medical college, a post graduate medical college, a nursing college, a research centre etc.

The Congress and BJP members pointed out that already a building was constructed for establishing NIMS and an amount of Rs 93 crore was allotted by the then YSR Government of which Rs.73 crore was already spent. They wanted that the present building should be made use so that the NIMS start functioning rather than wait for a new building and other infrastructures for AIIMS.

Pointing out that erstwhile governments were responsible for neglect in the starting of NIMS, the Min said that since the Central Government has already approved for establishing AIIMS, it would be more useful and viable to have such an institution rather than going in for NIMS.

Moreover, it should be noted here that the Centre had given its consent for AIIMS after the state government had shown the building meant for NIMS as readily available for the all India institute, he added and assured that all steps would be taken to make the AIIMS function at the earliest possible time so that it would be very useful for not only people of Nalgonda district but also the surrounding four districts.
