Hyderabad: In what is called a rare decision of Telangana Government, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today came forward to provide prize money to people who expose any corruption in the flagship project of Mission Kakatiya. Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, the minister said the government has taken up restoration of lakes, ponds and water bodies on mission mode.

“This project is our legacy and wealth for transforming the rural pockets to get adequate irrigation waters and envelop in greenery”, he stated. The lakes are known for providing livelihood for rural system and development, he said. On filling the lakes through restoration, the local government could supply adequate irrigation waters to next Kharif and Rabi to help the farmers reap in more benefits through increase in yield, he hoped. Over 46,000 lakes will be restored as per schedule and at least 9000 a year, he said.

Any proof related to corrupt practices by officials, contractors or those involved in the lakes restoration works will get a reward, he declared. The flagship project of Mission Kakatiya will involve farmers, people and local leaders, he said. The works will be taken up in a transparent manner and there will be no room for any sort of corruption, he remarked. Nonetheless, if anyone proves it so, the government will sure offer them a suitable reward, Harish added
