The State government has decided to provide water through four water grids to 899 gram panchayats and six municipalities at a whopping cost of Rs 4,090 crore and the officials sent their proposals in this regard. The Gaddenna Project works have been launched and Rs 168 crore has been allotted for the purpose of providing water to Muthol and Bhainsa constituencies. The Kadem project would be launched to provide drinking water to Khanapur and Jannaram mandals in the district. Similarly, it was decided to supply drinking water to the people of Indravelli and Utnoor mandals through the Komaram Bheem project.

They have also linked the Asifabad and Kagaz constituencies with the Komaram Bheem project. Next, the government decided to set up the Yellampalli water grid to supply water to Mancheriyal and Chennur constituencies. The Nirmal, Adilabad and Bodh constituencies would be associated with the SRSSP Water Grid for providing water. However, acquisition of land for constructing these grids has become a major challenge for the officials. Speaking to The Hans India, RWS Executive Engineer Venkata Ramana said here on Sunday that the officials of the Forest Department and the Rural Water Supply have decided to work in close tandem to acquire lands.

He said if the lands of the Forest Department spread out into several hundreds of hectares, the permission of the Forest Department of Tamil Nadu government becomes necessary. If the area of lands is less, the District Collector himself can grant permission. In order to construct the water grid projects, as many as 81 hectares of land are required. Apart from these, the officials have decided to acquire an additional 32 acres of government land and 18 acres of private land. Ramana said that they were also taking steps to identify lands for the construction of pipelines, 112 highway crossings, 510 Roads & Buildings Highways, 1, 117 panchayat raj roads and 14 railway level crossing bridges.
