Hyderabad: Telangana Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Wednesday felt that the AP government should rethink about the impact of Polavaram project on Telangana, just as the Telangana government has re-assessed the impact of Pranahita-Chevella on the neighbouring Maharashtra. .

In his reply to a query in the Assembly during a special mention, the Finance Minister said that Andhra Pradesh should take up the issue on humanitarian grounds, as several villages would be submerged in Telangana after the project is taken up. He said that even for transportation, vehicles would have to make 100 km of additional journey to cross into Telangana. He expressed hope that the AP government would change its decision on Polavaram.

This issue came again for clarification, after his reply during the budget discussion. Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy continued his insistence that the government should rope in the AP and the Central governments for a comprehensive survey on submergence of seven mandals under Polavaram project.
