Hyderabad: The Telangana government is not contemplating any change in the fee reimbursement scheme and would continue to implement it in the present format only.Disclosing this in the State Assembly during Question Hour on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said steps were being taken to ensure that the students would not be put to any hardship as the government would see to it that the amounts under the scheme were released in time.

He said so far 41,403 students had registered themselves to avail fee reimbursement. The amounts would be released under the scheme to the students before the end of this academic year in a phased manner.Regarding the apprehensions expressed by the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members about delay in issuing caste certificates, he said steps would be taken to issue the same promptly within time and the Revenue authorities were given strict instructions to see that there would be no delay in issuing the certificates, he added.

While Communist Party of India (CPI) member S Rajaiah pleaded for establishing a degree college for women in Bhadrachalam, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) member Konda Surekha urged that steps should be taken to establish a women’s college in the headquarters of every Assembly constituency. Government Whip G Sunitha wanted setting up of one residential college in every Assembly constituency.

Responding to the member’s queries, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government was taking all steps to provide the needed facilities in all women’s colleges besides ensuring safety and security for girl students. He also assured that the government would favorably consider establishing one residential college for women in every district and take steps to make them functional from the coming academic year, he explained.
