Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday exuded confidence that first Ugadi for the new State of Telangana would usher in a year full of prosperity and would witness tremendous growth in the areas of irrigation and IT sectors. Referring to predictions made by astrologers, Rao said the State would become financially strong and the agricultural sector would register impressive growth.

The government would make all efforts to generate employment and income opportunities though agriculture was not a major income-earner for the State as of now. The proposed “Seed Bowl” programme would bring a turnaround in the agriculture sector and would be a good revenue earning scheme as it would be catering to the requirements of other states as well, he said.

KCR said the arrival of ‘Godavari Pushakaralu’ in the first year of the formation of the new State was a good omen. Pushkar Ghats from Basara to Bhadradri would reverberate with chanting of Vedas creating positive vibrations during Pushkaralu. The government, he said, was making all-out efforts to celebrate the event on a grand-scale which would set a new precedent.

Earlier, while reading the Panchangam (almanac) the astrologers said Telugu New Year – ‘Manmadha Nama’, would prove to be very beneficial for the growth of the State. They predicted better rainfall in Telangana than Andhra Pradesh. However, Muhurtha Marthanda Guntupalli Sairam sounded a word of caution for KCR.

The movement of the planet Saturn was not favourable for the Chief Minister whose birth star is Aslesha. There was every possibility of KCR facing some health issues related to the nervous system and suggested that he perform Shanti homam till December. Later, KCR honoured Vedic pundits and folk artistes.
