Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Monday expressed its displeasure over the failure of civic authorities in the two Telugu states in removing illegal installations on the roads. The PIL bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar voiced displeasure at the failure of the civic authorities in removing illegal installations.

The bench was dealing with a petition filed by S Murali Krishna of Prakasam district in 2008 challenging digging of pits for installation of a statue with a pedestal by encroaching 15 feet road leading from National Highway No 5 to the villages of Mukthinuthalapadu and Gudimillapadu in the district. Earlier, the bench had directed civic authorities for removal of such illegal installations.

When the petitioner’s counsel complained that the authorities failed in removing such installations at public places, the bench said: “If the governments are unable to initiate steps, the court will act on its own for the removal of unauthorised installations.” The bench directed the government of Telangana to act more decisively to remove fexies, banners and statues in public places.
