Hyderabad: The State government has introduced toll-free number for receiving information from general public about people employing children as labour. People who observe businesses employing children can inform the authorities on toll -ree number: 1800 3070 8787 or on landline Numbers: 23233580 and 27637515. During the last three months, the Labour Department has booked 367 cases under Section 3 of Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act against employers who engaged children in their business in the parts of Old City.

During the raids conducted by Labour and Police Departments, several business establishments were found to be exploiting children under inhuman conditions and with meagre wages. R V Chandravadan, Principal Secretary, Labour & Employment warned of strict action against anyone who was found to be employing children. Any employer who engages any child in violation of Child Labour Act, 1986 was liable for imprisonment for not less than three months, which could be extended to one year or fine not less than Rs 10,000, which could be extended to Rs 20,000 or both, he said.
