The Telangana government has constituted a five-member committee to look into the modalities and finalise plans for the construction of a new Secretariat building, chief minister’s residence and houses for Civil Servants at Chest Hospital premises in Erragadda.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has constituted a five-member committee to look into the modalities and finalise plans for the construction of a new Secretariat building, chief minister’s residence and houses for Civil Servants at Chest Hospital premises in Erragadda.

TRS government is going ahead with its decision to shift the administrative headquarters of the state to a new location, despite stiff opposition from major political parties. According to Government Order (GO)-166 issued on Tuesday, Principal Secretary (GAD-political) will be the chairman, while principal secretaries of MAUD and Revenue as well as Secretaries to Roads and Buildings and Finance departments will act as members.

Further, an amount of Rs 150 crore was sanctioned for construction of new buildings to come up on 72 acres at Government General and Chest Hospital, Ayurvedic Hospital, Institute of Family Welfare and Drugs Control Administration offices in Erragadda. This committee will look into issues of identifying HoDs to be accommodated in the new Secretariat, office space required for Chief Minister and ministers, besides, plans and designs for the new Secretariat. They will also decide on plans and designs for the new official residence of Chief Minister and AIS (IAS and IPS) quarters to be built in the same premises.
