A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar on Monday dismissed a writ petition seeking directions to the Central Government on implementing the provisions of the AP State Reorganisation Act. The bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Venugopala Chary, TRS leader and special representative of the Telangana state government at New Delhi.

It is the case of the petitioner that though several promises were made in the statute regarding National Highways, Railways, Power Plants, river waters and others, no implementation of the provisions were being made. Senior Counsel S Ramachandra Rao appearing for the petitioner said the inaction of the Central Government in keeping the provisions made under the Act was against the interest of the people of Telangana. The bench dismissed the petition saying that the petitioner had no locus standi to file this case. The Senior Counsel sought permission from the High Court to approach the Supreme Court that was also rejected.
