SUVs worth Rs. 5 Crore for Telangana’s top bureaucrats

Telangana’s senior bureaucrats who are the top administrative officers in the state's 10 districts are being awarded SUVs worth more than 5 crore rupees.

The purchase announced in December by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has got clearance with the beginning of the new financial year and 21 Toyota Fortuners will be bought over the next few weeks for Collectors, Joint Collectors.

Telangana in its first year of existence has reported a fiscal deficit of nearly Rs. 17,000 crore. Nevertheless, the revenue surplus of about Rs. 530 crore indicates that the government is earning more from taxes than it is investing in infrastructure and capital.

Last year in August, the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly referred to as KCR, launched hi-tech police vehicles for Hyderabad and Cyberabad – over 100 Innova cars and 300 bikes were bought and assigned for patrolling.
