Hyderabad: ‘Out of the frying pan into the fire’ was experienced by a patient at a government hospital on Friday morning. The incident happened not due to his fate but due to the apathy of officials. A man who sustained injuries in a road accident and went for treatment to Gandhi Hospital was subjected to more trauma as two stray dogs mauled him. The man, identified as Gopi unable to walk due to his injuries was waiting near the emergency ward.

Two dogs attacked and bit him severely on both legs. He was immediately rushed to the emergency ward. The menace has been reported in the media over and again but to the consternation of the patients and public neither the hospital authorities not the GHMC staff have initiated any measures to put an end to this recurring problem. In January last, the GHMC had chalked out an elaborate plan on sterilisation and vaccination of strays in the city and increase the stray dog-catching vehicles from the existing seven to 24, but it has not yet been put in to action.
