Hyderabad: In a rare gesture, as many as 20 policemen donated blood to save the life of Sub-Inspector, D Siddaiah, who sustained four bullet injuries to his chest and medulla oblongata (part of brainstem). The 20 policemen attached to the LB Nagar Traffic Police Station donated blood to the 28-year-old SI of Jadcherla in Mahabubnagar district, who was shot at point-blank range by two assailants at Janakipuram village in Mothkur mandal in Nalgonda district on Friday morning.

“After eight long hours of the complex surgery, the doctors declared the surgery a success and the sub-inspector is fast recovering,” Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said adding that death rumours of the SI are false. However, the doctors attending to the officer revealed that the bullets lodged in the chest were removed while the one lodged in medulla oblongata would take a little more time to remove it.“Most probably, we would try on Sunday morning to take out the third bullet, once his condition ameliorates,” CEO, Kamineni Hospital Dr Mahender Reddy said.
