The district Congress leaders strongly condemned the act of defacing the statue of former Speaker late D Sripada Rao at Baswapur village of Kataram mandal in Karimnagar district on Thursday. They demanded the police to immediately arrest the culprits who were involved in the act and punish them severely while expressing concern over the failure of the police in nabbing the miscreants.

Warangal District Congress president N Rajender Reddy, the TPCC media and protocol conveners EV Srinivasa Rao and B Srinivas, Congress leaders from Karimnagar, A Anand, Nikhil Chakravarthi, A Ramu, G Mahesh and others have met Warangal range DIG of Police B Malla Reddy at his office in Hanamkonda on Saturday and submitted a memorandum.

The act of damaging the statue of late Sripada Rao would seriously undermine the tradition of respecting the leaders who served for the welfare of the society. ‘It is sad that such acts are taking place in a democratic country like India’ they added. The district Congress president Rajender Reddy urged the DIG to direct the police officials in Karimnagar district to immediately nab the culprits and book cases against them.
