Brave cop Siddaiah breathes his last

Hyderabad: Sub-Inspector Siddaiah (28), who sustained serious injuries in a shootout with SIMI terrorists in Janakipuram village in Nalgonda district Saturday last, died while undergoing treatment at Kamineni Hospital, here on Tuesday.

Incidentally, Siddaiah’s wife gave birth to a male child a few days ago at the same hospital where he was undergoing the treatment. Siddaiah was married to Dharanisha from Kadapa district.Siddaiah’s family, hailing from Kurnool, settled in Jadcherla town of Mahbunagar district some two decades ago. After his schooling in Jadcherla, Siddaiah, who dreamt of becoming an SI since childhood, joined the police and became so after studying Intermediate and Degree in Hyderabad.

On being selected as SI in 2012, he got the first assignment at Mothukur and was discharging his duties at Atmakur. After the shooting incident in Suryapet on Thursday in which a police constable and home-guard were killed, the police stepped up combing operations to nab the escaped assailants who were later identified as SIMI terrorists.Siddaiah, on coming to know that the two terror suspects were fleeing on a motor-cycle, chased the armed terrorists. He sustained serious injuries with about four bullets got embedded in his body.

The doctors operated and removed three bullets but could not remove a bullet imbedded in the brain. Valiant efforts were made by a team of doctors to perform the surgery and remove the bullet but the health condition of Siddaiah did not respond to the treatment and he breathed his last at 4.06 pm on Tuesday. According to hospital sources, the doctors have been preparing the family members since Monday about the remote chances of survival of Siddaiah.As fate would have it that Siddaiah could not see his new born son. As a matter of fact the SI was planning to take leave and be with his wife after the delivery of the baby.
