Urges Union Home Minister to order investigation into shelter zones for militants in Hyderabad

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday asked the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to ensure that all the activists of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) are rounded up.

In a memorandum submitted to the Home Minister, Dattatreya pointed out that there were shelter zones in Hyderabad for the SIMI terrorists and its sympathisers. He stressed the need to order a methodical investigation into the aspect of shelter zones.

In the backdrop of SIMI activities in the State, Union Home Secretary L C Goyal also reviewed the situation along with Ministry officials. Dattatreya briefed Rajanth Singh on the situation in the Telangana State, apart from submitting a memorandum.

There was widespread fear among people in the wake of two encounters against the SIMI activities. Dattatreya met Rajnath Singh along with Sriram Vedire, who is the advisor to Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati and MLC K Dileep Kumar.
