Speaking to media persons after chairing a review meeting in Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar urged the Chief Minister and his MPs to oppose the Bill as it was against the interest of farming community.

Hyderabad: TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to make his stand clear on the issue of Centre’s Land Acquisition Bill. Speaking to media persons after chairing a review meeting in Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar urged the Chief Minister and his MPs to oppose the Bill as it was against the interest of farming community.

He explained the need for taking part in rally being organised Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress in New Delhi on April 19. All the Congress leaders from State would participate in the farmers rally, along with farmers of the State in national capital, he explained. While strongly condemning the government for booking non-bailable cases against several farmers in Bommanakallu mandal of Madhira constituency, he held that they were illegally arrested for asking release of water to Nagarjunasagar Left Canal for saving standing crop.

He demanded immediate withdrawal of cases against the farmers and action against police and irrigation officials responsible for arrests. The review meeting was attended by senior leaders, including D Srinivas, Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Dr J Geetha Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, V Hanumantha Rao, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar, M S Prabhakar Rao and others.
