Hyderabad: The final rites of Viquaruddin Ahmed and Syed Amjad Ali were completed after prayers at Daira-E-Mir-Momeen in Sultanshahi on Wednesday night. Extreme emotional scenes were witnessed at the funeral, which took place around 8.30 pm. Angry mob, while returning from the funeral, pelted stones and smashed window panes of a few GHMC and police vehicles near Shalibanda and Volta Hotel Crossroads.
However, police intervened and brought the situation under control.Viquar's father Mohammed Ahmed who had initially refused to take his body till the government ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later relented. It may be recalled that the police on Tuesday gunned down five suspected terror operatives, including Viquaruddin Ahmed, self-styled commander of Tehreek Galba-e-Islam, after they allegedly tried to escape while being brought to the city for a court hearing on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway.
