The bridge would be inaugurated by August this year, he hoped. Vidyasagar Rao, who was here for the first time after taking charge as Maharashtra Governor, was felicitated by the employees of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation at office premises on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao praised the Telangana government for overcoming power problem in the initial stage. Recollecting his thought that there would be a big fight in Telangana Assembly, he said the government had successfully managed the problem. He also praised Finance Minister Eatala Rajender for convincing opposition parties. Stating that scores of people had sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate Telangana state, the ruling of the new government should be in favour of downtrodden sections, he said and added that the entire world had acknowledged the Telangana deaths.

He thanked people of Karimnagar for rallying behind him and helping him in the rise in his political career. He promised to take measures to include Karimnagar in the list of the Central government’s ‘Smart Cities’ category.Expressing concern over the decline of girl child population ratio, Governor appealed to the people not to resort to female foeticide and wanted the people to provide better education to women for the upliftment of the society.

Women maintain great love and affection with other family members, he opined. By the year 2025, young people below 29 years would be in India, he said and added that Hyderabad got worldwide rrecognization. Earlier, Maha Governor participated in Swach Bharat programme in district headquarters hospital. Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Mayor Ravinder Singh, Zilla Parishad chairman Tula Uma, chief whip Koppula Eashwar, local MP B Vinod Kumar and others took part in the programme.
