Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy said that the TRS government was also adopting Jyotirao Phule philosophy to achieve Bangaru Telangana. Speaking at a programme organised to mark the 189th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule at Clock Tower Centre here on Saturday, Jagdish Reddy said that Phule had laid the foundation for social revolution in India and strove to root out social evils. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao felt that he would be happy only when he saw happiness in the eyes of dalits and weaker sections, who constituted nearly 85 per cent in the population of Telangana State,” he said.

The minister pointed out that Phule was the first Indian social revolutionist, who worked for girl education and fought against child marriages. Noting that a majority of the beneficiaries of welfare schemes belong to BC communities, he said the government would also give top priority to BCs in its ambitious plan to provide irrigation facility to 70 lakh acres.

Earlier, he garlanded the statute of Phule. MLCs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Pula Ravinder, Joint Collector Satyanarayana and Additional Joint Collector Venkat Rao and leaders of different parties and BC Associations attended the programme.
