Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a factory in Jeedimetla area on Sunday morning resulting in heavy loss of property worth lakhs of rupees. However, no casualty has been reported.According to Jeedimetla fire officer, Sreedhar Reddy, the fire broke out at Cimtech Systems Private Limited Company located at the Industrial Area in Jeedimetla around 10 am.

On receipt of information, seven fire tenders from Sanathnagar, Jeedimetla, Secunderabad, Moula Ali, Madhapur, Gowliguda and Kukatpally rushed to the spot to control the blaze.Huge flames continued to erupt from the factory for about three hours even as fire personnel were able to douse the blaze at around 3 pm after battling more than five hours. “The chemicals in huge barrels kept inside the factory started exploding and were reduced to ashes.

There were raw materials which were highly inflammable," Sreedhar said adding that they had to use foam.As the thick smoke and flames enveloped the factory, the residents of the area feared that it would spread to other buildings too.The owners of the factory could not be contacted.Police have evacuated people from other buildings in the neighbourhood. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the fire officials maintained.
