Nizamabad: The Indian Constitution builder and first Union Law Minister Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary was celebrated in a grand manner in Nizamabad district.The people’s representatives, officials and members of various Dalit organisations garlanded the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar at Pulang Chowrasta here and paid tributes to him.
Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy participated in a programme organised by the district Scheduled Caste Welfare Department at Rajiv Gandhi auditorium here. Speaking on the occasion, Pocharam described Dr. Ambedkar as a role model for the country. He stressed the need to realise his ideals.
“Dr B R Ambedkar does not belong to a particular caste or religion but he belongs to all and his birthday is a festival for all 128 crore Indians.” the Minister said. Babasaheb who framed the Constitution, fought for protection of rights of the downtrodden and the poor.
Pocharam said the TRS government is committed to the welfare of SCs. He said the government decided to distribute 3 acres of land to each poor Dalit family.Zaheerabad MP BB Patil, MLAs Hanumanthu Shinde, B Ganesh Gupta, MLCs Rajeshwara Rao, VG Goud, Nizamabad Mayor Aakula Sujatha, ZP Chairman D Raju, District Collector D Ronald Ross, officials and representatives of various Dalit organisations were present.
