Congress leaders accuse CM of favouring Vaishnavite Hinduism
Congress leaders accuse CM of favouring Vaishnavite Hinduism.Congress Leader Katakam Mruthunjayam charged KCR with bias towards Vaishnavites and ignoring Shaivites for political gains.
Karimnagar: The state government led by Telangana Rashtra Samiti seems to have faced the ire of ‘Shaiva’ believers (devotees of lord Shiva) with the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to develop Yadagirigutta Narasimhaswamy temple on par with Tirumala Venkateshwaraswamy temple. Congress Leader Katakam Mruthunjayam charged KCR with bias towards Vaishnavites and ignoring Shaivites for political gains.
The government might have prepared a master plan with a sacred motto to develop Yadagirigutta, but some sections alleged that CM was encouraging a particular sect in Hinduism. Rumours are making rounds that KCR was showing more interest in developing Vaishnava temples instead of Shaiva temples. As part of his strategy, CM visited Yadagirigutta in helicopter along with Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who represents Vaishna faction of Hinduism, sources said.
People belonging to Shaiva sect observed that Vemulawada Rajarjeshwara temple, which is hailed as Dakshina Kashi (south Kashi), was the one of the most famous temples in Telangana. If the government wants to develop temples, the processes should have ideally began with Vemulawada. When KCR had announced package for Yadagirigutta, district Congress leaders staged dharna in front of Vemulawada temple for ignoring Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple. They performed special pujas pleading to Lord Shiva to change the mindset of the CM.
Speaking to the Hans India, district Congress committee president, Katakam Mruthunjayam said that there was nothing wrong in meeting with religious heads but it was not proper on the part of CM to divide Hindus on religious lines. “CM is promoting Shaiva temple because majority of the Backward Communities would believe in Shaivam and would gain politically. He is using Chinna Jeeyar Swamy to attract his followersy” he adds.
Pratap Ramakrishna, former president of Vemulawada Temple Committee and vice-president of Vemulawada nagara panchayat, said that doubts cropped up among the people over the behaviour of CM. “During his visit to Vemulawada in 2012, KCR had promised to develop temple by allocating Rs 200 crore. But, CM seems to have forgotten his promise after coming to power” he said and urged KCR to announce a package and unveil plans to promote Vemulawada temple in his upcoming visit to temple town.
