Karimnagar: About 20 people of Chirlavanch village of Sircilla mandal on Friday climbed onto the top of overhead water tank in the village on Friday to register their protest against the indifferent attitude of Lower Manair Dam (LMD) land survey officials The victims lost their lands under LMD irrigation project. The government had fixed 25 years residence in the village as eligibility criterion to identify beneficiaries to provide compensation.

Though the Information and Panchayat Raj minister K Taraka Rama Rao had directed the officials to consider 2010 as cut-off year to identify beneficiaries for the compensation, the officials were taking 2008 as cut-off and preparing the list of beneficiaries. About 700 villagers are going to lose compensation with the negligent attitude of the land survey officials, they alleged and demanded the State government to intervene in the matter and take necessary steps to provide compensation to all the eligible oustees. They withdrew their agitation after the police assured them to take the issue to the notice of higher officials.
