Hyderabad: Enthused by the overwhelming response from people, Telangana state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday expressed his government’s readiness to increase the size of tanks revived under ‘ Kakatiya Mission’ if the farmers come forward and donate lands.

He said in an official release here that so far administrative sanction has been given to revive 7,000 tanks and works were in full swing. Unique identity number for every tank would be given and the details of the particular water body would be put on the website. The Chief Minister said the historical and big tanks- Pakala , Ramappa and Laknavaram- would also be developed under the mission.

Instructing the officials to regulate the transport charges on the shifting of silt from tanks to the agricultural lands, KCR said rehabilitation package would be extended to all the displaced at the tank sites. He agreed to provide transportation facility for the officials engaged in the works. State Irrigation minister T Harish Rao said district level monitoring cells have been instructed to conduct periodic reviews on the progress in the tank repairs and complete them before the beginning of the rainy season.
