The State government will take a re-look at the issue of affiliation to 163 engineering colleges in the State as the government was committed to improve the quality of education imparted in the colleges. Hence, the government has decided to inspect the colleges again.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that affiliation to 163 engineering colleges was cancelled last year as the beginning of 2014-15 academic year witnessed lack of basic infrastructure and other facilities required under the AICTE and JNTU-H norms for affiliation but college managements got court reprieve.

Another round of inspection by JNTU-H in the colleges in question will be conducted next month to decide whether to renew or cancel their affiliation, said Minister Srihari. However, Mr Srihari assured that the future of students already studying in these colleges would be protected, irrespective of cancellation of affiliation of any college.
