Separate residential schools to minorities

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State president G Kishan Reddy took a dig at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for announcing separate residential schools on a religious basis. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Kishan contended that the announcement was unconstitutional and tantamount to building ‘madarsas’. He alleged that the TRS government had taken this decision after being compelled by its ally MIM. Kishan Reddy said that schools in Telangana had lacked toilets and other basic amenities.
Under such circumstances, how could the Chief Minister expect the students compete at international-level as desired by him, he questioned.Opposing the TRS government’s bid for allotting 12 per cent reservation to Muslims, he said: “At present, four per cent reservation is continuing. On the top of it, the TRS government has newly constituted a commission to study the socio-economic conditions of minorities. But, we oppose 12 per cent reservation regardless of the mandate” that the TS government had given to the commission.
The BJP leader found fault with KCR for not even mentioning the crop loss caused in the State during the recent unseasonal rains, and said that there was nothing new in the proceedings in the District Collectors’ conference.Rejecting the allegations levelled against him by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao that he was opposed to Mission Kakatiya, the BJP leader clarified that he was not against the mission, but only opposed the manner in which the programme was being conducted.
“Though public money is being spent for the programme, the works related to de-silting of tanks have turned into mere ruling party affair,” he criticised.Kishan Reddy called upon the BJP workers to organise celebrations across the State as the party had achieved a membership strength of 10-crore across the country. He distributed sweets to the party workers on the occasion. A number of enthusiasts hailing from Armur in Nizamabad district joined the BJP at a formal ceremony. Kishan Reddy felicitated actor Sivaji Raja who has been elected as General Secretary of Telugu Movie Artists Association (MAA).
