Hyderabad: In a development that shows that ‘sporting’ considerations go a long way in resolving issues and nipping things in the bud, incumbent Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the newly-floated Telangana Olympic Association (TOA) on Sunday. Fellow-party leader and Member of Parliament, A P Jithender Reddy will be the President while K Jagadishwer Yadav will be the General Secretary.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) will be headed by Telugu Desam leader C M Ramesh while his party leader J C Pavan Reddy will be the General Secretary. Both were elected unopposed.In an interesting development, which augurs well for sports in general, in a TRS-dominated panel, which also has Dr S Venugopal Chary as the Vice-President, BJP Floor Leader in the Assembly, Dr K Laxman will be one of the four vice-presidents. Elections to some of the posts were held in Hyderabad and the results declared later in the day.
