Defying all odds, the son of a migrant labourer, has secured the top position in the Intermediate first year examinations the results of which were announced on Wednesday. Rachakonda Sai Kumar stood first by securing 467 out 470 in the MPC division. He was a topper in SSC with 98 per cent in 2014.

Sai Kumar Sai Kumar, a native of Rangampet village in Choppadandi mandal, pursued his Intermediate first year at Alphores Junior College’s Kothapalli branch here. Speaking to The Hans India, an elated Sai Kumar expressed his happiness over securing the top position. “The college management had promised free admission for the second year if I scored 462 marks and above in the first year.

So, I worked hard to get the highest marks as my parents cannot pay huge amount towards the college fee,” he said. He said he wants to graduate in mechanical engineering from one of the famous IITs in the country.Fourteen years ago, his father Rajamogili migrated to Mumbai in search of employment.

He is at present working as a daily wage labourer in a bakery. His wife Laxmi runs a tailoring shop in their native village to make both ends meet. Rajamogili is proud of his son’s achievement and wished Sai Kumar would achieve similar laurels in the future too. “We never objected to the studies of our son, though we are poor. We will continue the same support in future too and would like to see our son in a good position,” said Laxmi.
