Girls outdo boys in Intermediate 2nd yr results

Once again girls have ruled the roost in the second year Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE)-2015 results of Telangana. While girls registered 66.86 per cent pass percentage, only 55.91 per cent boys could clear the examinations in general courses. Similar trend was seen in the vocational courses. While 66 per cent girls passed the examination, boys registered only 54.85 pass percentage.

Hyderabad: Once again girls have ruled the roost in the second year Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE)-2015 results of Telangana. While girls registered 66.86 per cent pass percentage, only 55.91 per cent boys could clear the examinations in general courses. Similar trend was seen in the vocational courses. While 66 per cent girls passed the examination, boys registered only 54.85 pass percentage.

The results of second year Intermediate were announced by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari at Telangana Board of Intermediate Education, here on Monday. Compared to the previous year, the overall pass percentage has increased from 60.14 per cent to 61.41 per cent in general courses and from 54.92 per cent to 59.06 per cent in vocational category.

This year, in the general category, 49.41 per cent candidates secured A grade (more than 75 per cent marks), 31.46 per cent got B grade (60-75 per cent marks); 14.39 per cent got C grade (50-60 per cent marks) and 4.74 per cent secured D grade (35-50 per cent).

Continuing the success streak, Ranga Reddy district topped the results with 75 per cent pass percentage, followed by Khammam (64 per cent), Hyderabad (64 per cent), Nizamabad (57 per cent), Warangal (57 per cent), Karimnagar (56 per cent), Adilabad (54 per cent), Medak (54 per cent), Mahabubnagar (52 per cent) and Nalgonda (50 per cent) districts.

Among government colleges, Adilabad district topped the list with 75 per cent pass percentage, followed by Medak (70 per cent), Nizamabad (68 per cent), Mahabubnagar (60 per cent), Karimnagar (60 per cent), Warangal (59 per cent), Nalgonda (59 per cent), Ranga Reddy (58 per cent), Khammam (54 per cent) and Hyderabad (49 per cent).

This year, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) colleges have put up exceptional performance. Of 6,664 students from 106 TSWEIS appeared for the exams, 4793 students have cleared registering 80.50 per cent pass percentage. Among the TSWERIS, Hyderabad topped with 90.53 per cent followed by Adilabad district with 89.92 per cent pass percentage.

Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TSWREIS, said Ramanjaneyulu Erni of IIT Gowlidoodi secured 982 marks in MPC stream and Bharathi Makireddi from the same Institute scored 982 in BPC stream. He further said 16 colleges have bagged cent percent results and seven colleges were successfully in producing 100 per cent first class marks. The Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE) will be held from May 25 to June 1 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The last date for applying for the examination is May 6.
