Hyderabad: Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender has warned stringent action against ration dealers indulging in irregularities in Public Distribution System. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s objective is to ensure supply of quality rice to beneficiaries mostly hailing from poorer sections. Ration dealers should understand government priorities and co-operate, he said. Rajender held separate meetings with district joint collectors, supply officers as well as dealers on Tuesday.

He stated that distribution of new cards would begin from next month onwards. These ration cards will be linked with Aadhaar cards. To ensure transparency and minimize leakages, e-pass system would be soon introduced, he said. He promised hike of commissions for ration dealers so that they are financially satisfied. He also appealed to joint collectors to keep a tab on fine rice being supplied to welfare hostels. Government’s move drew applause from all quarters and we are even contemplating enhancing the quota.
