A two-judge bench of the High Court on Friday disposed of two petitions on the question of funds and functioning of the State Council for Higher Education. The bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar was dealing with two writ petitions – one filed by the AP State Council for Higher Education questioning the action of the State Bank of Hyderabad freezing its account in one of its branch at Shanthi Nagar in the city at the behest of the Telangana government and the other filed by the Telangana government seeking directions that the institutions mentioned in tenth schedule of state reorganisation Act and situated in Telangana are to be under the control of Telangana state government. The bench directed the SBH to defreeze the bank account, divide the money among the common institutions after consultations and said that law of land’ is the basis and the TSCHE is formed as per the Act.
