TOP COP, BUREAUCRAT AT TRS CAMP

TDP firebrand Revanth Reddy compares TRS chief’s action to ‘cat going to Haj after eating 100 rats’

Hyderabad: Sharpening the criticism against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for making Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram and Hyderabad City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy deliver lectures at the political training camp organised by the ruling party, the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) stormy petrel A Revanth Reddy said this clearly showed how the officials were paying obeisance to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Demanding the removal of such officers, Revanth said Sadaram had obliged the ruling party as part of thanksgiving for allowing him to continue in the post of Assembly Secretary even after his superannuation. He was also highly critical of the police commissioner agreeing to address the public representatives at Nagarjunasagar. He said as police commissioner, he should have been counselling his subordinates on how to control increasing crime in the State capital.

Reddy said it was unfortunate that Chandrasekhar Rao was talking about morals in politics while he himself encouraged dissentions from Opposition parties. “It is like a cat going for Haj pilgrimage after eating 100 rats,” he said. Congress Deputy Floor Leader in Legislative Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said using the services of officers for training classes was nothing but misuse of power. Chandrasekhar Rao should have invited some experts who could include retired officials from various fields and not serving officials.

“If it was a training camp for all MLAs and public representatives irrespective of party affiliations, then it could have come under the ambit of government function,” he said. BJP State president G Kishen Reddy said the TRS training classes where IAS and IPS officials were being invited was against the norms and was totally unconstitutional. “Chandrasekhar Rao must give clarity, if it is a government function or a party training programme. This is absolutely misuse of power,” he said.

“There is difference between party and the government, but the TRS seems to have mixed up both and is confusing people. No government has undertaken training classes exclusively for its own cadre by involving bureaucrats. This is against the democratic principles. Will the government spare their services if we organise training programmes or will it adopt a duel policy?” he asked. Earlier, former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the TRS was conducting political training classes to encourage party leaders to amass public money clandestinely.

He alleged that the party was conducting the training programme for newly inducted leaders, who had opposed the movement for statehood and added that training was also being imparted to realtors, contractors and industrialists who had secured party ticket at a premium. He charged the party with betraying Telangana activists who had actively participated in the movement for statehood.
