Hyderabad: The surprise meeting of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari with AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu created a flutter in political circles here on Tuesday. Kadiam drove down to Naidu’s office in AP secretariat in the afternoon and went to CM’s chambers along with TDP Rajya Sabha MP Garikapati Rammohan Rao.

However, it was later learnt that Kadiam had called on Naidu with a request for supply of raw material required to revive the AP Rayons Ltd located in Kamalpuram in Warangal district and that there was no politics involved in it. Kadiam, it may be recalled, was an important leader in TDP and was also a minister in Naidu’s Cabinet in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The Telangana Deputy Chief Minister is said to have told Naidu that the Telangana government was ready to revive the factory which has been defunct for long, provided the AP government agreed to supply the raw material that was required to run the unit. Over 70 per cent of the pulp needed to be supplied by Andhra Pradesh.

According to Rammohan Rao, Naidu has responded favourably to the request and said that his government would take necessary steps in that direction. If revived, the factory would provide jobs to about 20,000 to 30,000 workers. The TS government during elections had promised to re-open the factory.
