With the indefinite strike of RTC beginning on Tuesday night, the students who are taking exams in universities have received the largest setback.

With over 90 lakh passengers in Telangana state and around 64 lakh passengers taking the RTC every day to travel, the strike will have a huge impact on the passengers. On Tuesday evening itself, the buses in Warangal had been off the road. In wake of the strike, police deployed additional forces at the bus stations to prevent any troublesome incidents.

However, temporary drivers are to be hired to maintain the services while private bus operators along with SCR are in talks with the officials to increase the number of services and coaches. With a fitment of 43 percent demand, RTC unions talk with the officials failed on Tuesday resulting in the strike.

Telangana transport minister Mahender Reddy said that corporation was losing Rs 4,000 crore but employees were not ready to discuss issues. With 43 percent fitment, people will be burdened and that is the reason we are appealing to RTC to reconsider the strike, he said.
