Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) minority wing chairman Mohammed Sirajuddin and other leaders called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and requested him to direct the Telangana government to order a CBI probe into the Alair encounter.

Speaking to the media later, Sirajuddin said five under-trials, who were chained and handcuffed, were killed in an alleged encounter by the Telangana police on April 7 near Alair. He said the minorities had lost trust in the TRS government after the incident of murder of an eight-year-old boy in Mehdipatnam on October 8, 2014, and the recent encounter wherein five Muslim under-trials were shot dead in broad daylight.

Terming the SIT probe, ordered by the State government as an eyewash, he urged the government to intervene into the issue and order a CBI enquiry into the incident. The Congress leaders also asked the Governor to intervene to ensure that the TRS government fulfilled its promise of providing 12 % reservation to Muslims in education and jobs.
