This meeting will commence from 2 pm at Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development (MCRHRD) Institute, Jubilee Hills.

It may be mentioned here that government has resolved to plant 230 crore saplings including 100 crore in forest areas in the next three years. In this backdrop, Rao called for this meeting to ensure his ambitious scheme took off successfully.

The Chief Minister will ascertain preparedness of district administrations in this regard. With little over 50 days left for the inauguration of the scheme, majority of collectors chalked out their plans and delegated works to various departments already.

Sharing details of the proposed meeting, a top official from the forest department stated that Chief Minister would be guiding them on how to go about the initiative, how to make it a mass movement with community participation etc.

Plans are afoot to plant 40 crore saplings in the first year alone. Neighbouring states like Karnataka, Maharashtra have also been contacted to supply some varieties of tree plantations in view of the big target of 40 crore, he explained.
