Hyderabad: The Telangana government is willing to spend Rs 5 lakh for construction of each house as part of 2-Bedroom Housing scheme for poor, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, said on Monday. Interestingly, TRS, in its election manifesto, has earmarked Rs 3 lakh for construction of each unit.
With prices of raw materials zooming upwards, Telangana government, has little options but to enhance price of single unit to go ahead with its scheme. KCR made this statement during his meeting with 10 District Collectors and top officials of various departments at MCRHRD Institute, Jubilee Hills on Monday.
He instructed collectors to visit IDH colony in Bhoiguda, where GHMC is building 396 houses, so that they could replicate the same model in their respective districts. He told them to build independent houses in rural areas, G+1 houses in urban panchayats and G+2 constructions in urban areas.
Each house should be made with pillars in 550 square feet area, he said. Rao directed the Collectors to make a thorough check of previous housing schemes like Indiramma Housing Scheme and identify the real beneficiaries. CM reviews Haritha Haaram
Earlier, the Chief Minister held a review meeting on Haritha Haaram scheme with 10 District Collectors and forest officers besides top officials of various departments. Although official records put the extent of green cover at 24 percent, Rao felt that it was below it.
He said that he himself noticed very low greenery even in forest areas, while going on chopper trips to different places. Rao also directed Collectors to hold weekly review meetings to check the preparations of various departments until the programme kicks off in July.
