Hyderabad: State Chief Election Officer Banwarlal said that a proposal has been sent to the Election Commission of India, for issue of new voter identity cards with imprinted Aadhar numbers. If the Election Commission accepts the proposal then voters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would be provided with new voter cards with their EPIC and Aadhar card number.

This would enable people to carry a single card instead carrying both voter and Aadhar cards, he added. He also said that the new cards printing would be cheaper and it would be first of its kind in the entire country that a single card with both EPIC and Aadhar number being printed, he added.

Elaborating further, Banwarlal said that details of the newly proposed cards would not put in public domain, to ensure that the personal details and privacy of the voters is retained. Also, any individual or companies found misusing the election commission data available in the public domain, including selling or commercializing or using for illegal acts then the commission will file criminal cases against such individual and companies, he warned.
