Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday said that for the five-day “Swachh Hyderabad” programme involving 33,500 employees, Rs 20 crore was released to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).


The “Swachh Hyderabad” programme is said to be launched by Governor ESL Narsimhan on May 16 to make the metropolitan city free of garbage, stench and trash along with problems relating to pensions, ration cards, housing facility, storm water, roads, drainage and other issues. The programme will be attended by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao along with Ministers, legislators, local leaders and MPs of the TRS party.


Minister Talasani said that the Chief Minister is keen to provide permanent shelter to dwellers by remodeling slums in the city into beautiful colonies and steps are already being taken in this direction.


400 teams have been set up with local people’s participation and these teams have been sanctioned Rs 50 lakh by the State government for the “Swachh Hyderabad” clean city drive. Also, a toll-free phone number 040-2111 11 11 is made available for addressing issues.
