Hyderabad: The flagship KG to PG free education programme of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government would be implemented only from the academic year 2016-2017. Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of releasing SSC Public Examination results at the Secretariat here on Sunday, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the government would hold consultations with all stakeholders including parents, teachers, schools and intellectuals before implementing the scheme.

He further said that process of consultation would begin from the next academic year i.e. 2015-2016. The Deputy Chief Minister said that several reforms had been initiated by the Central and State governments in the school education, however, majority of them did not last long due to various shortcomings.

“We will prepare the modalities for scheme without giving scope for any shortcomings so that it can be implemented effectively. The process of consultations will begin from the month of July,” Kadiyam said. To make teachers better equipped with the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System (CCE), the government would give training to the teachers.

The Minister said that directions were already issued to the State Council of Educational Research and Training to prepare the modules to impart effective training to teachers. On whether the percentile system would be used to give weightage in the Eamcet, the Minister informed that same pattern of weightage would be followed for Eamcet ranking.

The Minister also said the government would bring in Telangana Universities Act soon. “Once the act comes into force, vice-chancellors to the universities will be appointed, “he added. On toilets in schools, Kadiyam said that by end of the July, all the government schools would have toilet facilities for boys and girls, including running water tap.
