Hyderabad: The pass percentage in the Telangana SSC Public Examination has hit a new low with 8.21 per cent less result than that of the last year. The total pass percentage stood at 77.56 per cent this year against last year’s 85.77 per cent in Telangana in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh state. The results were announced by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari at the Secretariat, here on Sunday.

  • Pass percentage down by 8.21%
  • New pattern dented pass percentage
  • Warangal tops with 91.6%
  • Adilabad at bottom with 54.9%
  • Girls continue to rule the roost
  • 28 schools register zero results
  • Supplementary exams from June 18

Warangal district topped the chart with 91.6 pass percentage, whereas Adilabad continues to be at bottom with 54.9 per cent pass percentage. Out of 5,13,473 candidates in regular segment, 3,98,267 candidates passed the examinations. While in private category, 45,750 appeared and 24,766 candidates cleared the examinations accounting to 54.13 pass percentage.

Kadiyam said the new pattern of examination was considered to be a reason for decrease in the pass percentage. He informed that because of new pattern-which makes students to think analytically for writing the answers, the number of malpractice cases have come down this year. According to the data, maximum number of students could not crack mathematics and physics papers as they found them to be tough.

This year, the percentage of students securing ‘A1’ grade in mathematics and general science was just 6.5 per cent and 2.4 per cent, respectively against 10.59 per cent and 15.27 per cent, respectively, the last year. Though, students’ lamented that physics question paper was very tough, the officials did not pay heed to their concerns. This has marred the chances of several students from clearing the examinations resulting in the low pass percentage.

Girls continued their success streak in the SSC results too. This year, a total of 2,55,035 girls appeared in the regular category and 2,01,582 cleared the exam registering 79.04 pass percentage. In case of boys, as many as 2,58,438 appeared and 1,96,685 could make through the exams accounting to 76.11 pass percentage. This means the girls secured 2.93 pass percentage higher than boys.

While in private category, the overall pass percentage stood at 54.13 per cent. And girls continued to dominate results with 9.15 per cent pass percentage more than boys. Going by the management-wise results, the government schools registered 63.39 per cent. The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society Schools secured 92.99 per cent results which is highest than private schools i.e. 82.48 per cent.

With the introduction of new pattern examination, the number of schools securing cent per cent results has come down this year. According to the data, 1491 schools (including government, aided and private) secured 100 per cent results against 2434 schools the last year. The private schools continue to show their dominance in the results. As many as 944 private schools secured 100 per cent results whereas only 547 schools under government management could register cent percent results.

On the flipside, 28 schools, including nine government, five zilla parishad, two aided and 12 private, secured zero per cent results. No student in the government schools obtained 10 Grade Point Average (GPA). While four students of Zilla Parishad, seven from welfare residential schools, 19 of aided and 1357 private candidates secured 10 GPA. Going by district-wise, Ranga Reddy topped with 480 students securing 10 GPA, followed by Warangal 288 and Hyderabad 143.

The supplementary examinations are scheduled from June 18 to July 2 from 9.30 am to 12.15 pm. Last date for payment of the fee to heads of the schools concerned is May 30. Kadiyam made it clear that deadline for the payment would not be extended further as time for conducting the examination was less. He urged the candidates to pay the fee before the due date.
