Psychopath attacks woman at SR Nagar

Hyderabad: A psycho stalker, who created tension in SR Nagar area, was held by police on charges of assaulting a woman with a knife who was staying at a ladies hostel on Monday. After receiving a complaint from the victim, Mamtha, 21, police swung into action and arrested the accused when he was on an assault spree in Sri Sai ladies hostel in BK Guda area on Monday around 12.30 pm.

Mamtha, an architect from Tirupati, who has been staying at the hostel for a couple of months, was attacked on her head. She was immediately shifted to Prime Hospitals for treatment. The psychopath allegedly misbehaved with few women when the police tried to arrest him. “He is said to be mentally unsound and made self-inflicted injuries with the knife,” the cops said, adding that the attacker gave contradictory statements when questioned.

“First he said his name was Chaitanya and then later as Kiran. He also stated that he belonged to Warangal but later changed as Uppal. During interrogation, he said he came to meet his brother’s son and he was falsely implicated in the case,” the cops said. However, working ladies complained of bad security at these places. Many hostels in the area are being run illegally, they said.
